Westenders Calendar Girls raise almost £10,000 for cancer charities

Following thier sell-out run of ‘Calendar Girls’ at Theatr Brycheiniog last year, The Westenders theatre group were able to donate almost £10,000 to cancer charities. Last night the westedners held a presentation evening at their hall, where a representetive from Velindre Cancer Centre was presented with a cheque for £6,000 by Angela Williams, who herself was diagnosed with cancer during the production. A further £3,800 was given the Leukemia Research UK. As well as putting on a fabulous production, the brave women of the cast also stripped off for a calendar, in the theme of the original Women’s Institute calendar, proceeds of which helped towards the impressive donation.
